This is an Endowed Chair position that honors and recognizes a faculty with superior distinction and provides financial assistance above and beyond salary in support of research, teaching and service. Under general supervision the Chair will be responsible for all administrative and academic functions of the Pharmacy Practices and Administration department.

Essential Duties Summary

  • Assumes responsibility for all administrative and academic functions of the department.
  • Works closely with the Office of Educational Effectiveness to assure appropriate design, delivery, and assessment of PharmD outcomes.
  • Works closely with the Office of Experiential Training to ensure appropriate clinical sites for faculty. Responsible for the implementation and oversight of continuous faculty development for all clinical faculty in the areas of research, innovation, teaching and learning and service.
  • Engages in teaching in the PharmD curriculum.
  • Engages in clinical research that culminates in grant funding and publications in peer reviewed journals.
  • Responsible for administration of PGY1, PGY2 and Fellowship programs.
  • Serves on COPHS and University committees as assigned by the Dean.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

    Hiring Range Commensurate with experience. Education

    Earned PharmD or BSPharm plus a doctorate degree in a health-related discipline. The successful applicant should be eligible for a tenure-track appointment at the Professor level. Pharmacy residency completion preferred.

    Required Licensing/Certification

    Licensed Texas pharmacist or eligible for licensure in the State of Texas within 9 months of employment.

    Valid Driver's License preferred.

  • Work Experience

    Successful candidates should have distinguished record of successful program administration with a minimum of 10+ years of academic experience, and national recognition in Pharmacy Practice, research, and teaching. Candidate should also have demonstrated leadership in national pharmacy organizations as well as a demonstrated ability for securing external funds.
