Project/Unit Description

The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is looking for Electrical Engineers to support the Airborne Test and Integration (ATI) Branch within the Sensor and Electromagnetic Application Laboratory (SEAL) in Smyrna, Georgia. The Electrical Engineer will work with a team to perform electrical design and testing tasks. These tasks include circuit design, test automation, and interface design. This role would leverage digital and analog design background to produce hardware for airborne and ground-based communications systems including the development and test of robust wired and wireless communication buses (Ethernet, MILSTD- 1553B, serial, RF). This role would also involve rapid prototyping efforts, development of proof-of-concept test-beds, and use of modeling, simulation, and test software.

Job Purpose

This position designs, develops and tests electronic circuits fabricated to support a wide range of programs. It utilizes electrical circuit design and analysis tools to layout and model circuit performance. It guides assembly, test and integration of electronic circuits. It tests, analyzes and diagnoses malfunctions in existing hardware. It researches component and material specifications and assembly and manufacturing methods for electronic circuits.

Key Responsibilities

Develop electronic circuits and assemblies under the supervision of senior engineering staff to meet task requirements

Test and troubleshoot circuits for operational readiness

Generate documentation of hardware design and theory of operation

Additional Responsibilities

Electrical circuit modeling and design

Electrical and RF system integration and related testing

Performing test and evaluation of prototype systems

Test automation algorithm development in MATLAB, LabVIEW, Python, etc.

Simple PCB layout

Embedded systems test and evaluation

Required Minimum Qualifications

Relevant experience with electrical design

Relevant experience with electrical test & evaluation

Test automation experience

Preferred Qualifications

Active Secret Clearance

Familiarity with MIL-STD qualification testing

Familiarity with control systems

Familiarity with communications bus design (Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553B, serial, etc.) and computer networking

Knowledge of RF design and test

Thorough knowledge of LabVIEW and PXI test equipment

Travel Requirements

10% - 25% travel
