    Recruitment procedure for a position of Assistant Researcher

    Pursuant to the provisions of paragraph 2 of article 11 of Decree-Law No. 57/2016, of August 29, amended by Law No. 57/2017, of July 19, it is made known that, by order of February 27, 2019 of the Rector of the UNL, Professor João Sàágua, is open for a period of 15 working days, from the day immediately following the publication of this Notice, recruitment procedure for a position of Assistant Researcher in the area of teaching and research in Cellular Medicine and Molecular for the Faculdade de Ciências MédicasNOVA Medical School of this University.

    This recruitment procedure is documental, has an international character and is governed by the provisions contained in articles 18 and 20 of Decree-Law No. 57/2016, of August 29, amended by Law No. 57/2017, of July 19.

    This call is open under the program contract for development support of R&D activities, entered into between FCT, IP, and UNL and in accordance with the provisions of no. 4 of article 28 of the Regulation of Scientific Employment (REC), published in the Diário da República , and by Regulation No. 607-A/2017, of November 22.

    I — Order of authorization from the Rector — This recruitment process was opened by order of February 27, 2019, of the Rector of the UNL, given after the execution of the aforementioned agreement program between FCT, I.P., and UNL, confirmation of the existence of adequate budget and that the job now offered is provided for in the personnel map of the Faculdade de Ciências MédicasNOVA Medical School and there characterized by the category.

    II — Job description:

    1 — Workplace:

    2 — Functional Content:

    Assistant Researcher in the scientific area of Biomedicine with special emphasis on the area of cellular and molecular biology.

    Agenda 2030 Objectives: Area 2 — Health Sciences and Medicine, Objective 3 — Health of Quality.

    3 — Remuneration: Value corresponding to index 195, 1st step of the category of researcher assistant, in the scientific research career, as per annex I of Decree-Law No. 124/99, of April 20, and pursuant to paragraph 2 of article 2 of Regulatory Decree no. 11-A/2017, of December 29.

    III — Requirements:

    1 — Pursuant to paragraph 1 of article 10 of the ECIC, it is a general requirement for applying to the present recruitment process:

    a) Hold a PhD degree in the areas of Life Sciences, Health Sciences, or areas alike.

    2 — Candidates must also have a relevant curriculum in the areas of Cell Biology, with relevance in the themes that fall within the scientific strategy of the Research Center of Faculdade de Ciências MédicasNOVA Medical School, CEDOC – Chronic Diseases Research Centre (Centro de Estudos de Doenças Crónicas). For the assessment of the Curriculum vitae , referred to in point 3, it will be mandatory considering the number and quality (namely that reflected in citations) of publications as well as the ability to raise funding in national and competitive internationals.

    IV - Application Presentation:

    1 — Candidates will submit applications, preferably in digital format, to the email: ec.applications@nms.unl.pt

    2 — The application process must be accompanied by the following documentation:

    a) Application, using the form available at https:// www. fcm.unl.pt/intranet2/course/view.php?id=44; the candidate must express his consent for the communications and notifications, within the scope of this tender procedure, they may take place by email, indicating the respective address;

    b) Certificate attesting the degrees or titles invoked;

    c) Curriculum vitae , organized according to the systematic in point V of this Notice;

    d) Copy of the works mentioned in the CV;

    e) Career Development Plan, which attests to the candidate's potential for development of a research career integrated in the scientific ecosystem of CEDOC and Faculdade de Ciências MédicasNOVA Medical School. The plan must also include proposals that contribute to the candidate's specialization and internationalization and to attract funding which can, in a sustained way, ensure the investigation activities proposals. Finally, five-year targets for evaluating the proposed plan must be spelled out.

    3 — Applications duly instructed with the documents mentioned above in the point 2 must be submitted within 15 working days from the day after publication of the Notice in Diário da República.

    4 — The lack of any supporting documents, which cannot be ex officio supplied, will determine the rejection of the application.

    5 — Candidates must organize their Curriculum vitae , in accordance with the systematic of point V of this Notice.

    V — Evaluation criteria:

    1 — Scientific production - quality and quantity of scientific production that falls within the scientific areas of CEDOC and FCMNMS. Scientific production indicators may include articles scientific originals, books, patents or other production indicators accepted by the community scientific. In evaluating the scientific production, the jury may take into account indicators such as number and type of publications, as well as number of citations per publication or other applicable bibliometric indicators. These indicators inform the jury's decision but are not a substitute for a judgement based on the content of the scientific production or of the particular context in which it took place as well as its adequacy to the institution's scientific development strategy (35%);

    2 — Scientific activity — Number of research projects and funding volume associated with the scientific strategy of CEDOC, in which candidate participated and results obtained in them, with special relevance being given to the coordination of projects and participation in national and international networks. In evaluating the quality, the nature of the financing must be taken into account, valuing in particular the financing obtained in competitive tenders (35%);

    3 — Constitution of scientific teams — ability to manage and organize scientific teams, directing research units and conducting post-graduate projects, valuing equally the guidance of post-graduate students including PhD students and Master students (20%);

    4 — Mobility — national and international mobility in the practice of scientific research (10%).

    VI — Composition of the Selection Committee:

    The jury, appointed by the Director with powers delegated by rectoral order No. 94/2019 of February 27, has the following composition:

    President: Professor Jaime da Cunha Branco, Director of Faculdade de Ciências MédicasNOVA Medical School of Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, by delegation of powers.

    Members:

    Professor Paulo de Carvalho Pereira, Coordinating Researcher at Faculdade de Ciências MédicasNOVA Medical School of Universidade NOVA de Lisboa;

    Professor António Alfredo Coelho Jacinto, Principal Researcher at Faculdade de Ciências MédicasNOVA Medical School of Universidade NOVA de Lisboa;

    Professor Maria Cláudia Nunes dos Santos, Principal Researcher at Faculdade de Ciências MédicasNOVA Medical School of Universidade NOVA de Lisboa.

    VII — Evaluation of applications:

    1 — After the deadline for applications, the Selection Committee meets for evaluation and ordering of candidates.

    2 — Based on the appreciation of the curricula, of their suitability to the scientific area where it is open, of the other contest pieces and in the assigned classifications, according to the indicator criteria and considerations provided for in paragraph V above, the Selection Committee will admit the candidates with a final classification, in absolute merit equal to or greater than 50, or to their exclusion, when they have a final rating of less than 50.

    3 — Once the admitted candidates are determined, based on the above classifications, the jury presents written reasoning with the ordering of these candidates.

    4 — The ordering of the admitted candidates is done by voting of the members, respecting the order presented in the opinion referred to in paragraph 3 above.

    5 — In compliance with the Code of Administrative Procedure, all candidates will be notified of the results of the admissibility check to, if they wish, comment on seat of prior hearing.
