Early Years Practitioner (2 x Part time Posts)

Student And Academic Services Campus Support Grade 4 - £21,197 to £23,715 (pro rata) dependent on experience (Fixed-term until 23/02/2024)

The Nursery at Sheffield Hallam University provides full day care for up to 72 children from age 4 months to 5 years and is rated 'good' in all areas by OFSTED in 2017

In April 2021 we opened a second nursery site in Shirecliffe in collaboration with Watercliffe Meadow School and Save the Children UK which will initially provide a further 21 places for children aged 2-4 years from the local community. Both nurseries will be part of a unique Early Years and Community Research Centre that will explore and share findings on effective practice with young children and their families.

We are looking for Early Years Practitioners who can work to a high standard, extending children's learning through a variety of interesting play-based activities. You will be required to produce written plans to further the children's learning and development, as well as keeping written records of progress and maintaining excellent relationships with parents and children. You will work collaboratively as an effective team player.

You will need to have a minimum Level 3 qualification as defined by the Department for Education on the Early Years Qualifications List and Ofsted Welfare Requirements or equivalent, along with previous childcare experience and sound knowledge of the EYFS. The key attributes required for this role are a strong customer focus, the ability to relate well to others, excellent communication skills and the ability to work on your own initiative.

We have 2 part time opportunities:

1. 18 hours per week, fixed term until 23/02/24, based at our Collegiate Nursery, located off Ecclesall Road.

2. 17 hours per week, permanent, based at our Meadows Nursery in Shirecliffe.

We welcome applications for job-share, part-time and flexible working arrangements.

If you are offered this post, you will be subject to an enhanced with barred lists check by the Disclosure and Barring Service. A criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from working at Sheffield Hallam University but its relevance to the duties of the post will need to be assessed before the appointment is confirmed.

Sheffield Hallam welcomes applications from all candidates irrespective of age, pregnancy and maternity, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religion or belief, or marital or civil partnership status.

The University is unable to sponsor the employment of international applicants in this role.
