The Department of Accounting, Finance & Insurance is looking for highly
motivated candidates, interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in Business Economics at
The financial sector can play a decisive role in facilitating the transition
to a green economy, by providing more or less favorable financing conditions
to green and brown economic activities. The banking sector should play an
important role towards achieving the goal of net-zero emissions by 2050. The
policy framework may further contribute to this by setting appropriate and
effective incentives. We intend to analyze the benefits and the costs of
different policies aimed at fostering the sustainability of banks' business
The candidate should have a master degree in (applied) economics,
econometrics, finance or business engineering.
Successful candidates should have excellent qualifications at bachelor and
Excellent (micro-)econometric skills are considered an asset.
The candidate must be prepared to work in Leuven (Belgium).
The candidate should have a high level of proficiency in English sufficient to
communicate effectively with colleagues.
We offer a full-time position as a Ph.D. scholarship recipient, consisting of
an initial period of 12 months, which–upon positive evaluation–will be
extended to a maximum of 4 years.
The Department of Accounting, Finance & Insurance offers a dynamic,
