Within the project "RedLang - 101002592" funded by the European Research
Council (ERC), geometric aspects of the Langlands program are to be
investigated with the help of cohomological methods, in particular integral
aspects of the motivic Satake equivalence. This ambitious project includes a
detailed analysis of the relevant geometry of affine flag varieties. A close
cooperation with the Algebra Group of the TU Darmstadt, the Rhine-Main
universities funded within the DFG Project CRC326 - GAUS as well as attending
summer schools and conferences at home and abroad is expected.
The project is in cooperation with the University of Clermont Auvergne,
France. In particular, there is the possibility of a research stay and a
scientific exchange on site.
Motivated candidates with a completed academic degree (M.Sc.) in mathematics
or a related subject should have substantial knowledge of modern algebraic
geometry. This includes the theory of schemes and their étale cohomology.
Experience with representation theory of reductive groups and the homotopy
theory of schemes (motives) is also desirable. Excellent communication
skills in English (spoken and written) are required to work in our
