Eastern Florida State College is currently seeking applications for the full- time position of Director, Student Success & Experience on the Melbourne Campus in Melbourne, Florida.

Salary & Benefit:

The annual salary is $60,000. Successful internal candidates for external job postings should be aware that their current salary does not transfer to the new position. Salary will be as advertised in the job announcement. Full- time employees of Eastern Florida State College receive fringe benefits including health insurance and a retirement plan.

Position Concept:

Provide leadership, supervise, oversee, plan, organize, coordinate, and review the services, activities, and operations of the First-Year Experience (FYE) program, Student Success Specialists, and Call Center. Provide direction and support to college-wide, cross-functional efforts that promote student learning, persistence, retention, and academic success during students' first year of matriculation at the college through completion. Conceptualize, develop and implement college-wide procedures, policies, programs, and strategies designed to improve the educational and social environments of all students. Perform a full range of administrative, programmatic, and technical duties, as well as internal and external collaboration to enhance student success.

Minimum Qualifications:

The following minimum qualifications for this position must be met before any applicant will be considered:

  • Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Closely related experience in student services or instructional programs is required. Experience (minimum 1 year) in a higher education.
  • Experience working with students in both the secondary and post-secondary environment with a focus on transition (preferred).
  • Familiarity with internal and external student resources and services, and the ability to appropriately refer.
  • Supervision experience.
  • Knowledge of student success strategies to support transition, improve retention, and persistence.
  • Ability to develop professional and engaging content and activities to support transition, retention, and persistence.
  • Evidence and understanding of students with varying needs, experiences, and backgrounds, particularly during the first year of college as well as pertaining to retention and persistence.
  • Basic principles and practices of program development, coordination, and review.
  • Ability to collaborate positively and effectively with staff, faculty, administration, student workers, volunteers, community agencies, organizations, and stakeholders. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all appropriate matters.
  • Learn, interpret, and apply rules, policies, and procedures. Outstanding written/oral communication skills.
  • Valid Florida Motor Vehicle Operator's license required.
  • This position will require successful fingerprinting and the candidate chosen will be required to pay the associated fee (currently $37.25). This fingerprinting fee ($37.25) is non-refundable.

  • Official transcripts of all collegiate work will be required to be considered beyond the application phase.
  • High School Diploma or GED or transcripts or official transcripts of all collegiate work (as appropriate for the position) must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Human Resources Office prior to the first day of employment. All foreign degrees must have a course-by-course official evaluation and translation sent to the Human Resources Office directly from an evaluation company affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc.

    Minimum physical qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to access input and retrieve information and/or data from a computer.
  • Works inside an office environment.
  • Requires travel to other campuses.
