Description
The Director of Residential Life and Student Conduct supports the mission of
Saint Mary -of-the-Woods College by providing students the ability to develop
leadership skills through social justice, spirituality, sustainability, and
gender equality. Provide leadership for collaborative efforts that create
social and cultural vibrancy. Supervise Resident Assistants and Graduate
Assistants and is responsible for providing opportunities for experiential
learning, continued instruction, and support in their academic and career
paths. Utilize the Code of Student Rights and Responsibleness when adhering to
administrate conferences for the Student Conduct process.
Responsibilities:
Residential Life:
Assist in the development of goals, vision, polices, and procedures for
Residential Life
Oversee two residential buildings
Train Resident Assistants
Supervise Resident Assistants
Supervise Graduate Assistants
Participate in after-hours and on-call weekend rotation
Respond to crisis and emergency response
Personal conflict intervention and crisis management
Assist in coordinating maintenance and facilities issues
Frequently reviews/recommends Residential Life policies/procedures
Oversee the distribution, collection, and review of housing data including
damages, roommate changes, and maintenance request
Participates in campus events
Work with Conference and Event Services
Coordinate Housing Lottery
Residential furniture inventory
Key inventory and distribution
Create a living and learning community for students
Assist with New Student Orientation and First Year Experience program
Perform other duties as assigned
Student Conduct:
Oversee the Student Conduct process
Emergency responder
Recruit and train the College Conduct Board
Serve as the college's Student Conduct officer for investigating
individual and group violations
Create sanctions
Oversee mandatory student trainings
Collect data from Student Conduct, how many cases, what cases, sanctions
completed, etc.
Frequently Review Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities
Student Development:
Establish and maintain a rapport with students
Serve as a student advocate and promote a community suited for a positive
experience for all students
Counsels students on college and personal challenges and make referrals
when appropriate
Provide an atmosphere of challenge and support
Provide experiences to connect students to lifelong learning
Requirements
Master's Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Psychology is
preferred
Experience in Residential Life setting or student leadership
Ability to work well with diverse group of faculty, staff, and students
Initiative-taking and self-driven
Willingness to work nights and weekends
Serve on campus wide committees
Ability to maintain a positive approach under pressure
Knowledge of campus safety measures and procedures
Ability to manage sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
Culturally competent
Dependable, trustworthy, flexible, initiative-taking
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Cross collaboration across campus
