Position Information

The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive communications and marketing strategies for the School of Education. Major duties include the development and implementation of the school's comprehensive communications content strategy (including web/digital, written, and video communications); multi- platform marketing campaigns including advanced digital marketing strategies; and partnerships and programs aimed at building the SOE's brand reputation, raising visibility of the school's faculty, research, and accomplishments, and supporting the school's key initiatives, with a focus on growing graduate student enrollment with a focus on addressing the severe underrepresentation of Black and Indigenous students. The Director serves as the marketing leader for the School of Education (SOE), is a key member of the Dean's senior leadership team, and provides strategic and operational leadership for all aspects of SOE marketing and communication. The Director of Marketing and Communications will interact with a sophisticated, assertive audience of potential School of Education applicants, and therefore, must possess excellent communication skills and persuasive dialogue. As the UCR School of Education has multiple programs dependent upon student enrollment, this position has a significant impact on the School's revenue generation.

The full salary range for the Director of Marketing and Communications is $84,100 - $157,500 annually. The expected pay scale for this position is $100,000 - $120,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Vaccination Program Policy. All Covered Individuals under the policy must provide proof of Full Vaccination or, if applicable, submit a request for Exception (based on Medical Exemption, Disability, and/or Religious Objection) or Deferral (based on pregnancy) no later than the applicable deadline. For new University of California employees, the applicable deadline is ten weeks after their first date of employment.

Minimum Requirements

Advanced knowledge of applicable campus and/or medical center policies and state and federal laws pertaining to marketing and advertising issues and concerns and other related policies or laws. Advanced analytical and research skills. Advanced skills in developing, designing and implementing creative promotional and advertising strategies. Skill in mentoring less experienced staff. Advanced knowledge of marketing principles, concepts, techniques and applications relevant to the field of promotion and advertising. Advanced written, visual, interpersonal communication and political acumen skills. Advanced knowledge of the campus and/or medical center's product lines and services.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced knowledge of the campus and/or medical center, including its achievements, mission, goals, vision, objectives and infrastructure.

Advanced knowledge of recruitment marketing strategies including email marketing (CRM) and digital marketing.

Advanced knowledge of developing and implementing a comprehensive website strategy.

Personal and/or professional experience and demonstrated capacity or record of commitment to serving racially diverse communities. Desire to work alongside faculty, students, staff, administrators? commitment to UCR and SOE?s equity- oriented mission as a land-grant university on Tribal lands designated as a Hispanic Serving, Minority Serving, and Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution.

A strong with an understanding of how marketing/advertising strategies can serve to promote or hinder racial and other forms of equity.
