Director of Instructional Technology, Design, and Assessment

The Director of Instructional Technology, Design, and Assessment is responsible for overseeing the support and facilitation of instructional technology and design with faculty, programs, departments and colleges. The position is the leader in communicating expectations and approaches for research driven models of instructional design, including online, face to face, and hybrid classes. The role includes but is not limited to curriculum mapping, assessment planning, use of instructional technology and pedagogical decisions.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Work with the faculty to design, develop, implement and assess instruction. Consult with individual faculty to facilitate growth in appropriate pedagogy, curriculum design, technology, and assessment of student learning.
  • Assist departments and programs with curriculum issues, program assessment, curricular cohesion, technology use, and program integration.
  • Teach one course per year, as appropriate.
  • Serve as an ex-officio member to CELT, the Committee on Assessment & Accreditation, ATAC, and other task forces and work groups as assigned.
  • Assist in mentoring new faculty
  • Develop and manage processes to build and maintain online and hybrid programs, training for faculty, and other ongoing support structures required for success with instructional technologies.
  • Knowledge and Skills:

  • A master's degree in instructional design or related field is a minimum requirement.
  • Academic experience in teaching and distance learning is helpful for this position.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills; high caliber interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills and experience in the design of online materials.
  • Experience working with faculty, deans and other administrators to intentionally design coherent academic courses, assessments and programs.
