The Director of the Tutoring Center will coordinate, supervise, and evaluate the overall operation and staff of the tutoring program; recruit, hire, train, and evaluate tutors; develop learning outcomes and assessments for the tutoring program; develop training materials and deliver tutor training; work closely with faculty for recruitment and training of supplemental instructors (SI); develop programs, workshops, and activities to promote and publicize services to students; maintain budgets and payroll; create academic support and tutoring programs and services for international students.

Minimum Education/Training/Experience

A Master's Degree in a Higher Education field. Demonstrated supervisory and leadership capabilities.

Preferred Education/Training/Experience

Experience as a tutor. Experience coordinating, developing, planning, and monitoring all aspects of a tutorial program.

  • Knowledge of best practices in higher education, adult education, tutoring, and instructional support.

    Job Duties

  • Manage the centralized tutoring center schedule, personnel, and budget using computer software as required.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate tutors and other Tutoring Center personnel
  • Collaborate with academic departments, deans, and faculty to determine student tutorial needs
  • Work with and train department-appointed supplemental instructors
  • Develop and implement a learning support system strategic and assessment plan to include student satisfaction surveys
  • Provide regular and ongoing data tracking for departmental and institution use.
  • Develop a process to monitor and assess individual tutoring sessions
  • Oversee tutoring-related tracking software
  • Serve as a tutor or assist with the front desk when necessary
  • Conduct group and one-on-one meetings with employees of the Tutoring Center on a consistent basis.
  • Stay up to date with Higher Education and Tutoring center trends and best practices.
  • Serve on Campus-Wide committees as assigned
  • Update the Tutoring Center website as needed.
  • Conduct classroom visits and other campus events to promote the Tutoring Center
  • Work with Faculty, Deans, and staff on initiatives involving the Tutoring Center.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Academic Planning and Innovation.

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
