Position Summary:
Villanova University has embarked on a 10-year strategic plan, Rooted.
Restless., with the goal of enhancing the Augustinian Catholic living and
learning experience for all members of our community. University Advancement
is seeking exceptional talent to join our mission-driven team working together
toward our shared vision for Villanova, fueled by the generosity of the
University's philanthropic supporters as we prepare for Villanova's next
comprehensive capital campaign.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Annual Giving, the Director of Digital
Fundraising will oversee the design and implementation of digital fundraising
strategies to complement the University's multi-channel marketing plan. The
Director will supervise a team of two positions, including the Associate
Director of Digital Fundraising who in turn manages the Assistant Director of
Digital Fundraising. The Digital Fundraising team within Annual Giving ensures
the success of digital channels with the goal to cultivate, solicit and
steward Villanova alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students, and friends.
The Director will closely collaborate across the Annual Giving team and
University Advancement department to coordinate a comprehensive solicitation
and stewardship schedule combining digital and traditional techniques to
acquire, retain and sustain annual donors. The Director of Digital Fundraising
will be responsible for digital programming and campaigns within the team's
overall strategy, including but not limited to online giving forms, phone and
text campaigns, crowdfunding campaigns, annual day of giving, calendar year
end and fiscal year end campaigns, along with year-round email, social media,
and advertising reach. The Director will oversee data quality and analysis to
ensure digital strategies are based on the data-driven decisions and
evaluation required to achieve the University's donor retention, reactivation,
and acquisition goals.
The Director of Digital Fundraising will serve as a member of the Annual
Giving team's leadership and will attend select University Advancement and
University wide events throughout the fiscal year.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee the Design and Implementation of Digital Strategies: In
collaboration with the Senior Director of Annual Giving and the Director
of Leadership Annual Giving, the Director will work cross-functionally to
create a seamless experience among our digital, traditional, and frontline
programs in support of Villanova's comprehensive donor engagement,
solicitation and stewardship efforts. Lead the annual planning process for
digital programs within Annual Giving's multi-channel communication
calendar, including identifying objectives, audiences, budget, and key
performance indicators. Establish an effective and efficient system to
track and evaluate digital return on investment. Ensure digital channel
infrastructure for strategic plan priorities and Advancement units, with a
focus on the University's undergraduate, graduate, and professional
college programs (including Villanova Law), Athletics, and more. Partner
with respective Directors in each area across the department as needed to
identify opportunities to enhance digital strategy impact on the
University's and Advancement's strategic priorities.
Lead Digital-First Campaigns: Serve as the Annual Giving digital
program lead for initiatives including 1842 Day, Villanova's annual day of
giving, Giving Tuesday and Calendar Year End giving, Let's March Nova, and
Fiscal Year End giving. Partner closely with University Advancement
Communication to ensure a cohesive marketing plan built across digital
platforms. Deliver organic and paid social media strategy leveraging the
@VillanovaU and @VillanovaAlumni channels on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter
and LinkedIn. Manage the digital team in successfully executing, analyzing
and evaluating all campaigns and recommend cross-team involvement to
coordinate additional channels and frontline support as needed.
Industry Benchmarking: Research and monitor emerging digital trends
and tools, as well as key performance indicators, across marketing best
practices in higher education, non-profit and corporate industry. Identify
and connect with higher ed institutions that utilize tools such as
Salesforce Marketing Cloud for email marketing, GiveCampus for giving
forms and social fundraising, etc.
Digital Technologies and Vendors: Evaluate and recommend enhanced
strategies to existing UA-wide technologies including Salesforce,
Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Blackbaud FPM & Guided Fundraising, Cognos
reporting, etc. to support Annual Giving projects and initiatives. Assist
in managing vendor relationships specific to Annual Giving needs
(GiveCampus, 1842 Day platform, Social Media advertising, etc.).
Contribute to University Advancement-wide digital strategy collaboration
by meeting regularly with team members from across the department and
University, including Annual Giving, Alumni Relations, Operations,
Advancement Communications, central University Community and Marketing and
UnIT (University IT), as needed.
Support overall Annual Giving and University Advancement initiatives to
meet the goals of the University's strategic plan and comprehensive
capital campaign, especially related to undergraduate alumni participation
and unrestricted giving. This includes but is not limited to support
events such as Homecoming and Reunion Weekends, Volunteer Leaders
Conference, Senior Class Gift events. Etc. Assist in managing student
workers who support Annual Giving projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required.
Five to seven years of experience in nonprofit digital fundraising and/or
marketing.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise with current and
emerging trends in digital engagement and fundraising.
Experience applying data insights to build strategic initiatives and
measure results, including A/B testing and user optimization. In-depth
knowledge of best practices in social media, email communication, and
audience segmentation required.
Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced
environment required.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills required.
Must be well organized and detail oriented. Strong decision-making skills
in a highly collaborative environment.
Demonstrated commitment to, and belief in, diversity, equity and
inclusion.
Comfort and experience in a dynamic and mission-driven organization.
Knowledge of general office equipment, including personal computers,
Microsoft Office 365 required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's preferred, preferably in Business/ Marketing/ Communications.
Experience with graphic design tools, CRM/database management, Google
Analytics preferred.
Knowledge of Banner, Salesforce or other fundraising software preferred.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
Evening and weekend work and some travel required.
