Job Summary
With a commitment to education, advocacy and support the Director of Community
Standards serves as an integral part of the Dean of Students. Provides
leadership and oversight of department operations including budget, case
management and assessment. Supervises the process in all matters relating to
University violations of the Student Code of Conduct. Investigates, hears, and
adjudicates cases that are referred to Student Conduct and impose disciplinary
probation, suspension, and expulsion as necessary, including academic
dishonesty and referrals for code of conduct violations. Ensure due process is
provided for all students in the conduct process, balancing care and
accountability with a commitment to equity . Serve as a member of the Behavior
Intervention Team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise the University's student conduct process regarding adjudication
of violations of University student rules, both academic and non-academic.
Includes investigation of allegations of misconduct by students, student
organizations.
Consult with faculty, staff, students and other stakeholders on University
policies/procedures, protocols, behavioral and crisis management, etc.
Responsible for compliance with various mandates, laws and policies at the
federal, state and University levels. Includes collaboration on reports,
editing of the UTA Handbook of Operating Procedures, incorporation of
national best practices.
Coordinate regular campus meetings with residence life officials,
university police, counseling services, and other key offices to address
student conduct issues in a collaborative, student success oriented
approach.
Ensure proactive educational programs and outreach on various topics
including hazing prevention, Academic Integrity, and community standards
to students, faculty and staff. 6. Supervise Associate Director of
Academic Integrity, Assistant Director of Residential Student Conduct and
additional full time staff, including graduate and student workers.
Responsible for management of the departmental budget and implementation
of department's assessment plan.
Serve as a member of the Behavior Intervention Team.
Manage general office needs including oversight of procedural and training
manuals, review of Business Continuity Plan.
Assume a collaborative role in the Division of Student Affairs in support
of division wide initiatives, including sitting on division and university
committees and providing other support when needed.
Performs other duties assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in field related to work in Education.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Five years of professional experience in Student Affairs field.
Strong computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in field related to work in Student Personnel, Higher
Education, or Law.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Broad background in higher education law.
Seven years of supervision experience in Student Affairs field.
Strong computer skills.
