Position Summary:
The M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing seeks applicants for the position
of Director, Communication and Marketing. In collaboration with Villanova
University's M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing (FCN) Dean and
Leadership Team, the Director of Communication and Marketing is responsible
for the development and management of strategic communication and marketing
efforts to advance the College's reputation across a variety of channels,
including website content, publications/outreach, collateral materials, social
media platforms, and presentations, speeches, etc. The Director identifies,
assesses, and oversees opportunities to ensure that the College's key
initiatives, messages and strategic goals are clearly and consistently
conveyed to appropriate constituencies and stakeholders. The Director
collaborates with the FCN leadership, faculty, and staff to assess, identify,
and develop opportunities that enhance FCN's reputation as well as support its
mission and strategic goals. In addition, the Director supports the
University's Media Relations team's efforts identifying and cultivating
opportunities to enhance the College's reputation and promote its programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides the overall development and strategic management of the College's
communication and marketing efforts in support of the College's strategic
goals and priorities. Researches, writes, and edits across various
communication platforms, including print and digital channels, to ensure
messages properly align with and advance University brand and reputation
and FCN key messages, and strategic objectives. Assists Centers of
Excellence with promotion in support of advancing the College's academic
reputation. Grows and updates assets such as photo and video collections
as needed in support of communication and marketing goals. Ensures the
successful implementation, coordination, and completion of marketing and
communication projects to meet deadlines and budgets.
Establishes and maintains open communication and close working
relationships with the Dean and the College's leadership team, faculty,
and staff to develop opportunities for visibility and to enhance the
College's image and reputation. Supports the Dean's communication needs
for speeches, presentations, etc.
Oversees the Assistant Director of Marketing and collaborates with the
Assistant Director to develop and execute a marketing plan to increase
awareness and increased enrollment in the College's undergraduate, second
degree BSN, master's, doctoral, certificate and professional development
programs.
Serves as the College's liaison to University Communication and Marketing
and collaborates with teams in University Communication and Marketing,
e.g., Media Relations, University Advancement, Publications, Marketing, to
develop and coordinate strategies to enhance the College's academic
reputation through earned media and University-owned channels.
Performs other duties and assists with projects as assigned, including
attending University and College events and functions to assist and/or
oversee the coordination of all communication efforts.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required.
Must have 7-10 years communication experience in developing and executing
communication strategies and budgeting for same, as well as experience
working with a variety of print and electronic communication and marketing
channels. Must have excellent writing, editing, and strategic
communication and marketing skills.
Individual must be a team player with strong writing, interpersonal,
organizational, project management and planning skills.
Must be a flexible, upbeat, energetic self-starter who enjoys
collaboration with a wide variety of constituencies.
Must have strong communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills
with the ability to maintain excellent relationships.
Must be able to work independently as well as with others in a productive
manner. Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks, priorities, and
deadlines in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment.
Must have a deep commitment to the well-being of the University, a
commitment to the University's mission and heritage, and to serving the
needs of a diverse community.
Strong experience in—and understanding of—integrated strategic
communications.
Excellent writing, project management and strategic communication skills.
Experience in social media content development and placement.
Strong verbal and written communications skills with the ability to
develop and maintain excellent internal/external relationships.
Must be proficient in all standard computer applications, including
Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat, as well as social
media.
Standard office equipment: Laptop computer, printer, etc.
Must have the ability to handle a wide variety of projects in a fast-
paced, multifaceted environment with the ability to work evenings,
weekends, and some holidays as the demands of the job dictate.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, English or a related
field is preferred.
Master's degree is a plus.
5+ years relevant experience in communications and marketing within an
academic, nonprofit, healthcare and/or nursing environment preferred.
Nursing and/or healthcare experience is a plus.
