Job Title Director of Auxiliary Services

Department Business and Finance Essential Functions

The Director of Auxiliary Services is responsible for the Milo Bail Student Center (MBSC) Building Operations and oversight of all Business Operations in the MBSC and other auxiliary units Business Operations include (UNO Bookstore, UNMC Bookstore, UNMC Sorrell Center Convenience Store, Warehouse and E-Commerce), Milo Bail Student Center Business Office, Child Care Center, MavCard Services, Parking and Transit Services, Auxiliary Marketing, and UNO Student Organizations, Inc. This position also oversees the operations of the Thompson Alumni Center, has primary responsibility for oversight and management of the Dodge Campus third-party food services contract, as well as Campus-wide Vending. This position serves as the primary financial officer for the auxiliary units which includes developing and implementing a comprehensive plan of fiscal accountability, physical space utilization, human resource utilization, and ongoing strategic planning to ensure that the auxiliary units remain fiscally sound and business activities run smoothly.

Work Schedule Additional Duties

Business Operations & Financial Oversight: · Develop, control, and administer the annual budgets and ensure that resources are efficiently allocated.· Develop initiatives to generate and increase revenues, reduce costs, and improve efficiencies.· Research and analyze industry trends and best practices related to auxiliary units.· Prepare financial analysis, forecasting and complex detailed status reports.· Develop regular and periodic financial statements and ensure their accuracy and timeliness.· Resolve accounting problems/issues.· Monitor all auxiliary units' accounts.· Effectively manage operations of UNO Student Organizations, Inc (USO) as the Director and Chief Executive Officer of USO that has signing authority for all financial activity and contracting.· Represent the Building and Business Operations of MBSC, auxiliary units and Business & Finance Division on University committees as assigned. Human Resources & Personnel Management: · Effectively manage auxiliary units human resources by taking measures to: o Recruit, hire, motivate, mentor, and retain a qualified and diverse workforce. o Oversee the onboarding process for new employees (orientation, access to systems, parking, etc.).o Provide training, coaching, and counseling to ensure that employee performance expectations are clearly communicated.o Ensure that performance is appraised on a regular basis and is objectively measured.o Support employee career development opportunities.o Provide a workplace free from any form of harassment, intimidation, or unlawful discrimination, and which promotes mutually respectful and professional interactions.o Development and ongoing maintenance of position descriptions for auxiliary units staff.o Supervise and facilitate personnel actions including hiring, separations, and reclassifications. Maintain appropriate records and documentation.o Supervise processing monthly and bi-weekly payroll.o Track leave balances for all staff and communicate any leave balance discrepancies. Compliance: · Serves as a resource to ensure compliance with all regulatory standards to include: legal requirements for recruiting, interviewing, hiring, termination, EEO, affirmative action, and ADA.· Ensure compliance with all UNO and University of Nebraska policies and procedures including financial and contract reporting requirements. Strategic Planning & Space Utilization: · Advise and actively participate with management in developing strategic plans.· Provide strategic and operational direction and implementation in support of the business operations' mission and goals.· In conjunction with UNO Facilities Management, coordinate and supervise renovation projects within MBSC and other facilities and ensure equipment is in good working order.

Required Qualifications

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field Required Experience: Five years' of progressive business administration experience to include experience with financial and personnel management and some management experience of student center business operations.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education: Master's degree in Business Administration or related field and/or CPA certificate Preferred Experience: Prior experience in a higher education setting
