The TRIO Programs at the University of North Texas at Dallas were designed to support the academic development of students within our partner schools of Dallas ISD and surrounding school districts.
Position Overview
The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for the position of McNair Scholars Director.
The McNair Scholars director is a key member of the department of College Readiness and will have the primary responsibility of overseeing the McNair Program. The McNair Program is a component of the federal TRIO Program to prepare eligible participants for doctoral studies through involvement in research and other scholarly activities. The McNair Scholars Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the project including planning, implementing, overseeing the budget, developing educational programs, preparing monthly and annual institutional and federal reports.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree in education, counseling, or public administration from an accredited college or university and five years of experience with federal TRIO programs, academic support programs, or similar project/programs for disadvantaged students

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
Doctoral Degree in higher education administration, education, student development, counseling and guidance, social work, or STEM related area and seven (7) collegiate teaching and/or administrative experience including working with underrepresented students.

Job Duties
o
Create and implement educational programs to assist students in preparation for doctoral studies through involvement in research and other scholarly activities.
o
Manage daily operations of the McNair Program.
o
Manage the work of the McNair Program Coordinator.
o
Recruit and communicate with at least 25 students the expectations and considerations of the McNair Program.
o
Work closely with the Office of Student Access and Success for programs related to financial aid, academic advising, and career services.
o
Create and coordinate a tutoring program for McNair Scholars.
o
Meet with Academic Advisors and participants regularly to monitor the implementation of McNair academic initiatives.
o
Recruit participants and design services to meet specific objectives and achievement levels among participants and the grant as a whole.
o
Plan and implement year-round targeted student services at the individual and group level, including providing oversight, mentoring, guidance, and review of participants' research papers and presentations embedded in a summer Research Internship.
o
Organizing workshops, campus visits, and activities for the academic, professional and personal development of the scholars.
o
Matching scholars with research faculty mentors.
o
Tracking the McNair graduates through their doctoral degree attainments.
o
Prepare monthly and annual institutional and federal reports.
o
Maintain compliance with UNT Dallas policies and procedures as well as Federal regulations.
o
Track statistics, gather data, and write reports.
o
Manage and expand program partnerships.
o
Development of individualized service plans.
