Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the design, documentation, and implementation of the
information security strategy and the supporting practices across the
university. This position will also work to identify, categorize, and
remediate information technology related risks by maintaining a DRP,
maintaining a BCP, managing the yearly technology audit, and finding ways to
remediate emerging threats.
Develop and implement the university security awareness and virus
management programs; evaluate security products and test security systems
performance; assists in planning, implementing, and testing disaster
recovery procedures; facilitates risk assessment activities related to
network security.
Detect, investigate, remediate, and document all information security
incidents.
Provide recommendations on 3rd-party and internal applications and
software implementations from a security perspective.
Work with human resources to develop and maintain a university-wide
information security training plan for all Belmont students, faculty, and
staff. This training should cover federal regulations, Belmont policies,
and procedures that have been implemented to achieve compliance.
Provide weekly updates on information security risk, project status, and
incidents.
Develop policies, processes, and standards for maintaining the
confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Belmont data in hosted or
cloud environments.
Respond to and resolve relevant service requests from end-users related to
IT security.

Strong organizational and prioritization skills to manage multiple ongoing

Ability to consistently produce and maintain documentation for information
security policies, processes, and incidents. Including the ability to
produce written documentation for all proposed projects.
Proficient in conducting incident response and forensic analysis
activities.

coordinated with LITS goals and responsibilities to maintain continual
growth in technical skills, professional skills, and knowledge essential
to the position.
Experience working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to respond
to high-pressure situations. Ability to thrive in an environment of hard
work.
Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a
diverse community.
Ability to effectively present complex technical information to users
without a technical background.
Required Education Requires a Bachelor's degree in computer science or
business-related discipline or 4 years of related technical experience.
Information security certification and extensive training in information
security is very desirable.
Required Experience 5+ years of progressively responsible hands-on
experience with information security in a higher education environment is
required. A strong working knowledge of TCP/IP, network security technology,
and experience with the development of security policies.
The selected candidate will be required to complete a background check
satisfactory to the University.
