Director, Exercise & Human Performance Science
The Dr. Donald E. and Lois J. Myers School of Nursing and Health Professions
at York College of Pennsylvania is seeking experienced, innovative, and
dynamic candidates for a new Exercise & Human Performance program. The
Exercise & Human Performance program is a new bachelor's degree program that
will begin accepting students for Fall 2022. This position is a full-time,
tenure-track position. The School is devoted to building a diverse faculty
committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service to support the
development and sensitivity of a community of faculty, staff and students that
embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The successful candidate will have responsibilities which include program
curriculum development, course development, lab development, recruitment of
students, student advising, and internship co-op development. The director
will provide collaborative leadership for matters related to
accreditation/certification, teaching schedules, recruitment of new faculty,
evaluation of faculty and staff performance, support for grant and external
development opportunities, student advising, and formulation and
implementation of strategic plans and policies.
The successful candidate is expected to teach in the exercise & human
performance science curriculum, maintain an active research agenda in their
field of expertise, and contribute service engagement to the College and

The successful candidate is expected to:
Assure the development and delivery of an up-to-date curriculum in
alignment with scientific, professional, and industry recommendations and
Develop, preparing, and deliver course plans and materials.
Create and supervise internships and experiential learning for exercise
and human performance science major.
Recruit and advise students.
Develop the program lab, purchase equipment, supervise and provide testing
in the human performance lab.
Recruit, retain, and develop a diverse, high-quality faculty by supporting
faculty research, scholarship, teaching, partnerships, and external
Contribute to the continued development and success of the department
through leadership in research, teaching, and service.
Manage the administrative and operational affairs of the department and
advocate for the department across campus and outside the college.
Foster an environment that values shared governance, equity, dignity,
justice, cultural competence, and academic freedom.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Candidates should have an established record of teaching and professional
experience, scholarship activities, and service. The program director must
have a doctoral degree in exercise physiology or a closely related field or at
least one of the degrees in exercise physiology (Exercise physiology,
Kinesiology, Physical therapy, health, human performance, etc.), have
professional experience, teaching experience, and administrative experience in

demonstrate evidence of scholarly potential.
Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills and have a strong
commitment to working as part of a collaborative team in the Department of
Doctoral degree in Exercise physiology or closely related field
3-5 years of teaching experience in higher education
2-5 years of Administrative experience in the field (such as program
chair, director, coordinator)
Professional certification in their field of expertise (such as ACSM,
NSCA, IDEA, or NASM)
Professional experience in their field of experience (such as health,
training, rehabilitation, strength & conditioning, etc.)
Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication and
interpersonal relationships and commitment to diverse learning and working
Health/clinical related experience, knowledge, background or certification
ACSM-CEP and Ep certification is highly desirable.
Strong background in experiential learning.
Served as a program chair or director is highly desired.
Strong administrative experience.
Evidence of supervising, testing and overseeing a human performance lab.
Ability to mentor and supervise internships in exercise science or other
