Description

Position Summary:

This position directs and produces content for UAB's institutional channels which include official university newsletters, websites, institutional marketing material and social media channels. This position also manages the team that oversees the publicity request process and official UAB events calendar.

The director is responsible for developing and implementing content strategy that increases engagement with both internal and external audiences, including the ability to develop a plan to produce, distribute and measure the impact of key communications, measure and analyze reach, and tailor content to segmented audiences.

This position takes the lead on development of new publicity, as well as data analysis, to determine best practices for content strategy. The position oversees critical internal communications platforms and to supervise the growth of distribution of communications across digital channels. This position reports directly to the AVP for Content Strategy and is expected to work collaboratively with communicators across the enterprise.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Publication management and production - Oversees publicity request process for all university stakeholders. This includes planning, scheduling content and working with internal teams (creative, PR, social).
  • Manages UAB's employee newsletter (bi-weekly) and student newsletter (weekly).
  • Oversees messages on UAB main external websites and myUAB (internal employee portal) and UAB events calendar.
  • Content development - works with marketing, social and PR team to produce content for respective outlets. Contributes and assists with the production of UAB Magazine.
  • Team management - supervises content team which includes regular meetings and evaluations, providing team growth and support.
  • Professional development - This position requires staying current on best practices and approaches in the field, and learning about technologies that can improve workflow and increase reach.
  • Deepen one's understanding of analytics to inform strategy.

  • Salary Range: $81,525 - $90,000

    Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in a related field and ten (10) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
