Director of Residence Life
Midway University is seeking a Director of Residence Life. This position became open due to an internal transfer. We are looking for someone who can lead in a future-focused, fast-paced, student-centered environment. Founded in 1847, Midway University provides a career-focused education grounded in the liberal arts to over 1900 students in traditional programs as well as undergraduate and graduate programs for working adults offered in-seat and online. The campus is in Midway, Kentucky and is 14 miles outside Lexington. Midway University has experienced significant enrollment growth since 2016 and has managed several construction and renovation projects without incurring new debt to sustain that growth.
The Director of Residence Life is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, supportive, and engaging residential student experience. They must possess exceptional organizational and communication skills to provide outstanding student service and support. They will assist the Dean of Students with the administrative functions of the student conduct process and plays an integral role in addressing student concerns and behaviors outside the classroom. This role oversees two professional live-in Hall Directors and works closely with other Student Affairs staff, Campus Security, Business Office, and Campus Dining.
Responsibilities include:
Oversee all managerial aspects of a housing and residence life program, including student room and board billing, tracking, and reporting building and room occupancy, housing assignments, housing exemptions, and room assignments.
Provide comprehensive oversight and development of residence life programming and events, including hall events facilitated by Hall Directors and Resident Assistants, to cultivate an engaging and inclusive campus living and learning environment in conjunction with the broader campus community to achieve shared programming goals.
Serve as a primary liaison for the Student Affairs office with Facilities and Campus Dining, including but not limited to addressing maintenance and custodial issues, assigning student meal plans, and facilitating student activity and event food or space reservations.
Serve as a disciplinary hearing officer, hearing violations of residence life policy, and is proactive in addressing issues in campus housing.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Required : A bachelor's degree and two years of professional housing experience or a degree in college student personnel, higher education or related field is required. Must have or be able to obtain CPR and AED training and certification; Must become an approved driver for campus events and maintain active driver status; must be able to detect noise and community disturbances within the residence halls.
Preferred : A masters degree in college student personnel, higher education or related field and five years of progressive housing experience is preferred.
This position will require significant evening and weekend hours.
