Director of Sport & Physical Wellbeing, Assistant Secretary, Full-Time, Permanent
Applications are invited for the permanent position of Director of Sport & Physical Wellbeing at University of Galway. The successful candidate will be expected to lead the implementation of the University Sports strategy, as well as ensuring sustainable funding models for the future.

Under the leadership of the Dean of Students, the University provides a comprehensive range of support and development services to all students of the University, and at this time we are looking to recruit a Director of Sport & Physical Wellbeing. The post is a senior management position in the University, reporting to the Dean of Students. The Director of Sport & Physical Wellbeing will play the lead role in the strategic management of sport and physical wellbeing in the University including developing a sustainable funding stream for sport. Other key functions of this post will be the development of the infrastructure necessary for all sports activity and the development of partnerships with colleagues, students and external stakeholders to realise the University's strategic aspirations in relation to sport, health and wellbeing. The post holder will be responsible for the development of initiatives to raise the profile of and access to sport and physical wellbeing for all students of the University, and ensuring that University facilities are beneficial to students, staff, and outside user groups. She/he/they will also support the development of University Clubs, the support structures for high performance sportspersons, and the University's Sports Scholarship Programme.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the • Implementing of the University sports strategies; • Overseeing the development and growth of a physical activity programme; and • Developing and implementing sustainable funding models.

Salary: €104,815 to €119,938 p.a (applicable to new entrants effective from January 2011) and in accordance with the terms and conditions of the University's Remuneration Policy. This appointment will be made on the Assistant Secretary scale in line with current Government pay policy.
