Department

Library Services & Cultural Services at the University of Essex provides high quality, user-focused services to support the learning, teaching and research needs of the university. The Digital Systems & Services team is responsible for managing Library & Cultural Services software, systems and hardware and is based in the wider Content and Digital Systems team which is responsible for acquiring, processing and managing the print and digital resources required to support library users.

Duties of the Role

The Digital Systems and Services Assistant will work across Library & Cultural Services teams administering a range of systems, including general maintenance, troubleshooting, processing account permissions and co-ordinating equipment requests as and when they arise.

In conjunction with the wider Content & Digital Systems team, the role will assist with the collection development process including initial checking of accessibility and privacy compliance and activating content resources when they are ready.

This is a part-time, fixed-term post post working 18 hours per week until 31 July 2023 (working pattern to be discussed).

Skills and qualifications required

Applicants should demonstrate good organisational, communication and IT skills, the ability to work with a high level of attention to detail, and an understanding of and commitment to providing excellent customer service.
