Type of Recruitment External Position Title DIGITAL PROCESSING SPECIALIST Position Summary

The Clarke Historical Library's Digital Processing Specialist works on all tasks related to the digitization of microfilmed newspapers; this work requires using digital scanners and software, digital file editing, moving files on servers, using Excel to keep accurate records, and working both independently and as part of a team.

Required Qualifications

Associates degree or completion of at least 60 undergraduate semester credit hours. Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to evaluate one's own work, anticipate/identify problems, and propose solutions. Demonstrated ability to be accurate and thorough in all aspects of work. Ability to work both independently and cooperatively with others. Flexibility and willingness to shift priorities according to current needs. Ability to lift at least 25 pounds. Ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Two years of professional work experience. Experience with digital scanning or photography, especially large-scale projects. Knowledge of relevant library/archival standards for digitization. Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Capture One, or other image editing software. Demonstrated ability to maintain detailed records especially using Microsoft Excel. Ability to provide guidance and informal training to individuals.

Duties & Responsibilities

Performs tasks and executes oversight for the digitization of microfilm. Edits digital files; relocates master files on servers. Enters data into spreadsheets and databases. Performs quality assurance for work accuracy, conducting fixes as necessary, and ensures applicable standards have been met. Coordinates workflows and maintains complete and accurate records of all work performed. Communicates promptly with the Digital Project Manager about issues that impact productivity goals and workflows. Assists in maintaining tracking system deliverables and all project related files. Performs other related duties, as directed.
