The Office of Disability Access (ODA) at the University of North Texas exists to prevent discrimination on the basis of disability and to help students reach a higher level of independence. It is the mission of the ODA to engage and collaborate with faculty and other campus partners to ensure students with disabilities at the University of North Texas have access to all university programs, services, and activities; promote equity and inclusion for students with disabilities; and provide a platform for accessible pedagogical innovation.
Position Overview
The Digital Accessibility Specialist within the Office of Disability Access will be student and faculty facing. This position will be focused on supporting students with disabilities in resolving accessibility concerns alongside their faculty. This position will also work intentionally and proactively to provide training to faculty on digital accessibility, with a focus on face-to-face classes with online content. Finally, this position will also carry a small caseload, assisting students with disabilities with academic accommodation provision.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrable knowledge of UDL principles, WAI-ARIA and WCAG 2.1 guidelines, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and/or assistive technology.

Monday through Friday (8am to 5pm) with very occasional nights and weekends.

Job Duties
o
Support students who are experiencing accessibility barriers in academic, credit-based, courses and collaborate with faculty on a resolution to these barriers.
o
Deliver training to faculty, staff, and other stakeholders on campus on the accessibility of digital materials
o
Research and evaluate best practices and trends in postsecondary accessibility solutions. Consult with supervisor to develop strategies, partnerships, and initiatives to further the mission of the ODA to maximize campus access for all persons with disabilities.
o
Collaborate closely with the accessibility compliance team at CLEAR, to stay updated on accessibility trends and concerns at UNT, as well as solutions.
o
Manage a caseload of students. Including conducting registration meetings, referrals to appropriate campus resources, review student documentation and self-report, and determine reasonable accommodations after an interactive process with the student. Assess the interaction of the student's disability with the environment in determining reasonable accommodations. Being responsive to communications from students, faculty, and other stakeholders. Maintain accurate records relating to student documentation. service requests, communications, and other interactions.

Support other programs and activities of the Office of Disability Access as assigned.
