The SystemAnalyst Level 2 position performs a variety of co mplex technical tasks focusedon the administration, management, and main tenance of over 1,200 UNIX-basedservers in an enterprise-level computing virtual and physical environment.

This position work s closely with:

· span>Duke'sEngineering Team to implement servers and solutions con sistent with Duke'sstrategic direction

· Duke'sCore IT Operations group to ensu re that those implementations areoperationalized to fit into their suppo rt structure

Primary Job Responsibilities

Assist i nthe installation, configuration, administration, and system security of amulti-platform environment which includes Linux (primarily Redhat, but mayinclude Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, and Suse), VMWare ESXi, and Nutanix AHV

Adhere tostrong systems administration techniques and

procedures.

Assist inthe development and mainten ance of automated systems for server OS deploymentin both on-premises an d cloud

environments.

Establishand maintain best prac tices and procedures for patch management, virusmanagement, vulnerabilit y management, and operating system improvements.

Analyze andimprove system performance.

< p>Troubleshootsystem failures and resolve. Identify and document p ermanent fixes.

Participatein the automa tion of services using Ansible.

Coordina te/consultwith application development and database administrator staff to profileapplication needs and provide the appropriate environment(s) n eeded forstability and performance.

Comm unicateissues effectively to team members and management. span>

Provideprofessional, courteous customer s ervice.

Provideincident management, prioritization, a nd resolution of problems/tasks for users.

Participate in medium to large business projects; lead small to mediu minfrastructure projects.

Participatein documenting policies and procedures.

Wor k with client service representatives and various levels of teammembers across business units within the company.

Provide te am members with detailed platform overview training andsupporting docume ntation for operational, configuration, or other proceduralpurposes.

Attend status calls when requested and provides detaile d technicalsupport.

< strong>Essential Skills

Linux ServerAd ministrator with 3-5 years professional experience in Systems Administra tion,Virtualization, and Storage technologies on various Linux platforms (RHEL,CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian, and Suse)

Experiencewi th server provisioning, patching, troubleshooting, and securing servers withregular firewall update and monitoring

Package an dpatch management using Satellite, RPM, and YUM

Exper iencewith performance tuning of virtual servers, and management of serve r resourcesbetween Virtual Machines.

Experiencedin cr eating and maintaining Cron jobs, Systems backup, and OS installationusi ng Jumpstart and Kickstart for RedHat Enterprise Linux

Experiencein script automation using Python, Ruby, Perl, and Bash.

Experiencewith configuration management tools such as An sible, Puppet, and Chef

Experiencein Linux backup/res tore using TAR as well as formatting and disk partitioning.

Working knowledge of web application security, understanding ofvu lnerabilities and countermeasures

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor' s Degree - Computer or other similar technical concentration;relevant ex perience and / or training in lieu of education: Typically Minimum 6Year s Relevant Exp - Experience with Redhat Linux systems administration. span>

Redhat Certified Engineer (RHCE). IT automation system s such as Ansible,Puppet, and Chef

Minimum Qualifications Education

Bachelor's degree in a related field, or four years of equivalent preferred. technical experience required. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: VMWare, Microsoft Server, Red-Hat Linux, and/or AIX certification(s) A+, Security+, and or Network+ certification(s) preferred.

Experience

LEVEL 1: applications. No experience required beyond the minimum education (or equivalency) requirement. LEVEL 2: Two years of related experience in the areas listed below is required. - Microcomputer skills (including Windows 2000, XP, and 7). - Microsoft Office application suite. - Server administration (Windows, Red Hat Linux, and/or AIX). - Experience configuring and installing servers used in mid-size networks (100 - 1000 users). - Windows, UNIX, VMware and Citrix. - Tivoli's Inventory, Distributed Monitoring, TEC, Remote Control - SAN and NAS technologies such as EMC, IBM, and HP EVA. LEVEL 3: Four years of operational experience in the following areas is required: - Multiple storage technologies and SAN. - Design, implementation and maintenance, specifically in AIX, LINUX and Windows. - Virtualization - Systems and application monitoring and management tools, such as Tivoli.
