Offer Description

Production and functionalization of bio-based polyesters and other renewable materials using chemo-enzymatic methodologies. Sustainable procedures will be applied to insert functional groups prone to react selectively with biomolecules. Cardoon biomass will provide an array of compounds suitable for modifying the properties of the materials of interest but also for the preparation of bio-active formulations. The functionalized polymers/material will be characterized by NMR, MS and FT-IR and then tested. The new functionalized materials will undergo preliminary in vitro biocompatibility assays and biodegradability tests.
