  • The aim of the project is to explore the potentialities of a new class of processes to manufacture sheet components, by means of sub-zero temperature stamping processes. The project focuses on lightweight alloys showing an increase of the uniform elongation when formed below room temperature aiming to avoid or delay the onset of necking or other instability phenomena. The focus will be on: (i) Material mechanical testing at different sub-zero temperatures, (ii) Metallographic and microstructural analysis of the tested samples to evaluate the influence of the applied thermal fields, (iii) surface integrity analysis of the samples, and (iv) modelling on the newly developed process
