    Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Deputy Team Leader to join our 2WW Fast Track Team. You will be based in the Patient Services Centre with the expectation that you will rotate through other areas to meet the needs of the service. We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual who has experience in providing a comprehensive administration service, and working with computerised systems on a daily basis. Previous supervisory experience would be of benefit. The work is challenging and fast paced but very rewarding.

The 2ww Fast Track team manage all referrals received on a suspected cancer pathway including booking and contacting all patients to offer them an appointment in alignment with National Cancer Targets. It is a fast paced working, and varied and no 2 days are the same.

    Main duties of the job

You will work alongside the Team Leader heading up the 2WW Fast Track team, delivering first class customer service to patients.

As a Deputy Team Leader you will also work closely with the other Deputy Team Leader, 2WW Fast Track PSC Administrators.

You will deputise for the Team Leader as required on an ad-hoc basis, attending meetings on their behalf and fulfilling the main function of the Team Leader role on a temporary basis.

You will provide a comprehensive administrative and appointment service for outpatients and ensure compliance with waiting time targets.

Working for our organisation WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

As one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in England, we offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to. UHS is rated ‘Good' by the CQC and in the latest national NHS Staff Survey, we were in the top 10 acute trusts for staff engagement and for staff recommending the hospital as a place to work or receive care.

We support flexible working and will consider requests taking into account the needs of the service. UHS employees are able to access a huge range of NHS discounts, are entitled to a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), can access on-site nursery facilities (subject to availability), and we offer a generous pension scheme.

Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and direct trains to London. The New Forest National Park and beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep. The city offers living costs 20% lower than London and 14 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Deal with concerns / complaints escalated from the PSC Administrators as appropriate, further escalating where necessary to the appropriate Team Leader for action.

Participate in the induction of new Patient Service Centre Administrators across the Trust, sharing knowledge and expertise of the administrative processes and functions and the role of the centre. Ensure that staff adhere to the agreed operating procedures at all times, highlighting to a Team Leader any situations where this is not achievable.

You will be a highly organised individual with good communication skills, someone who can learn and assimilate information quickly. You will need to demonstrate the ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.

We're also looking for you to demonstrate: • Experience of providing high levels of customer service in a healthcare environment • Administrative and organisational experience • An ability to get on with people, share knowledge and best practice.
