The Deputy Dean is a key member of the Faculty Executive team, supporting the Executive Dean in a variety of ways including assisting them to determine the Faculty’s strategic direction and ensure key organisational goals are met. The Deputy Dean is responsible for managing human resources, including supervising those academic staff within the Faculty who do not report directly to the Executive Dean. More generally, the Deputy Dean is responsible for facilitating excellence in teaching, research and service and contributing to a sense of unity, cooperation and common purpose within the Faculty.
The Deputy Dean undertakes special projects as directed and stands in for the Executive Dean as required. The Deputy Dean reports directly to the Executive Dean of the Faculty.
The appointment as Deputy Dean will be for a term of 3 years in the first instance. The appointment as Professor or Associate Professor A will be ongoing.
About the person
The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills, including an ability to interact effectively with colleagues, students and stakeholders. They will hold a doctoral qualification and be an accomplished educational leader, with experience in the development and implementation of strategic and operational plans, as well as University budgeting, financial management and resource coordination. They will be committed to excellence and innovation in teaching and learning, including excellence in curriculum, resource, program and subject design. They will have exceptional organisational, workload and time management skills, experience with marketing, recruitment, alumni relations or other service activities, and the ability to develop and maintain meaningful strategic partnerships within and beyond the University.

The successful candidate will be appointed at the level of Professor ($197,866.85pa) or Associate Professor A ($169,558.64pa), plus 10.5% superannuation per annum, and an additional loading will be applied for the role of Deputy Dean, commensurate with skills and experience. Salary packaging options are available for eligible employees.
