The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT)

The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT) has been the leading Australian provider of engineering and information technology education and research for over 150 years. We are a multidisciplinary faculty organised into three key areas; Computing and Information Systems (CIS), Chemical and Biomedical Engineering (CBE) and Electrical, Mechanical and Infrastructure Engineering (EMI).

About the role:

As a member of the Faculty leadership team, the Deputy Dean Academic is responsible for developing, leading and implementing the academic activities in the FEIT 2025 strategy and has direct responsibility for initiating and leading initiatives to “create a transformational experience for our students” (FEIT Strategy Priority).

The Deputy Dean Academic provides leadership in curriculum, program development and student support, fostering an innovative and creative environment for students both inside and outside the formal curriculum, and ensuring a high-quality transformational experience for our students.

About you:

You will be an academic of international standing with an outstanding internationally recognised record of innovative research and scholarship in an area of relevance to FEIT, including engineering and information technology education. You have the vision and capacity to help shape and build FEIT. You lead by example and encourage, support and mentor academic and professional employees in the pursuit of our goals and exhibit- our FEIT values.

Criteria essential to the role:

  • PhD in Engineering/Information Technology or a relevant discipline;
  • Demonstrated excellence in high level leadership and management, including the ability to lead senior academic employees in a complex environment, positively contribute and influence others, and a sound understanding of practices and approaches that lift academic performance;
  • An excellent track record in curriculum innovation and curriculum management; teaching and learning experience; improving student-life on campus; student selection and student evaluation
