The School of Geography and the Environment and Mansfield College are
delighted to offer the exciting opportunity of a three-year Departmental
Lectureship in conjunction with a Career Development Fellowship. You will be
part of a lively and intellectually stimulating research community that
performs to the highest international levels in research and publications and
will have access to the excellent research facilities that Oxford offers. You
will have a role to play in the College and of the University as a member of
The successful candidate will be expected to engage in advanced study or
research in Human Geography and to give high-quality lectures, classes and
tutorials in Geography at both undergraduate and graduate levels. You will be
a human geographer specialising in development geographies or geographies of
the Global South, and/or decolonizing methodologies. You will write research
articles for peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and reviews, present
papers at conferences, and lead seminars to disseminate research findings.
To undertake this role, you will need a relevant PhD/DPhil with post-
qualification teaching and research experience and a strong publication record
in refereed journals, commensurate with your career stage. You will also need
to demonstrate an aptitude for teaching students with high ability and
awareness of pedagogic methods including experience with small-group teaching,
and giving classes and lectures. Sufficient depth and breadth of knowledge in
the subject to develop new teaching materials is essential.
