Job Summary

GRINNELL COLLEGE – Department of Theatre and Dance – Tenure-track APPOINTMENT IN PERFORMANCE STUDIES (START FALL 2022).

The Department of Theatre and Dance invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Performance Studies beginning Fall 2022. Assistant Professor (Ph.D., MFA or MA) preferred; Instructor (ABD or foreign equivalent) or Associate Professor possible. Teaching responsibilities include a combination of survey classes in performance studies, seminar courses in the candidate's area of expertise, and directing of a mainstage production. Teaching and directing responsibilities are determined by the department to best meet student needs and may change year to year.

Areas of expertise might include but are not limited to Black, Black-American, Asian, Indigenous, or Latinx performance; Film, Digital Arts, Devised Theatre, Installation Art, Adaption and Staging of Literature, Body Art, or Gender and LGBTQIA+ Studies. The successful candidate will demonstrate potential for teaching and directing at the college-level, while engaging in scholarly and creative research.

The new hire will be expected to share their research with the Grinnell community and to be a contributing member of the Theatre and Dance faculty.
