The Department of Psychological and Quantitative Foundations in the College of Education at the University of Iowa, one of the leading Colleges of Education in the nation, invites outstanding applicants at the University of Iowa for an academic year position as Department Executive Officer (DEO). The start date of the appointment is July 1st, 2023. Candidates' particular areas of expertise may be in any of the department's programs.
Description
The Department Executive Officer is appointed by the Dean of the College of Education and reports to the Dean. The candidate must be tenured at the rank of associate or full professor. This appointment is for a period of one year and is renewable. Candidates must be currently employed at the University of Iowa (must be an internal candidate).

Administrative Responsibilities
The Department Executive Officer provides responsible and professional leadership which furthers the excellence of the department. The DEO manages the day-to-day operational needs of the department, including supervision of support staff, evaluating faculty, fiscal management, identification and implementation of strategic initiatives, and allocating facilities and equipment for teaching, research, and service activities. The DEO will represent the department and maintain positive public relations with on and off-campus entities. The DEO is expected to provide leadership in facilitating long-term planning for professional involvement and development of the faculty and the department, and mentor faculty in effectively meeting their responsibilities in scholarship, teaching, and service. The DEO provides leadership in the continuous improvement efforts in the College.
Academic Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to remain active in teaching and/or research, supervise doctoral research, and participate in the activities of professional organizations at the state and national level.
Education Requirement:
Prospective candidates must have an earned doctorate in Education or a relevant discipline.
Required Qualifications:
Currently employed at the University of Iowa (must be an internal candidate);
Evidence of administrative or leadership skill and experience;
Evidence of a strong academic record in research, teaching, and service that merits appointment at the University of Iowa College of Education as an associate or full professor with tenure;
Evidence of successful grant activity; and
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment with a range of students, faculty, administrators, and external constituents.
