Position Information
Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Comprehensive Oral Health houses several disciplines including, Periodontology, Dental Hygiene, Comprehensive Dentistry, Operative Dentistry/BioMaterials, Prosthodontics, and Endodontics. The Dental Hygiene discipline focuses on the practice of keeping the mouth, teeth, and gums clean and healthy to prevent disease.
Position Summary
The University of North Carolina Adams School of Dentistry is seeking two full-time, year-round faculty members for the Dental Hygiene Program in the Division of Comprehensive Oral Health. Responsibilities will include didactic, preclinical, and clinical teaching of undergraduate and graduate dental hygiene and dental students; participation in program and institutional activities; community and professional service; mentoring undergraduate and graduate student research projects; faculty mentoring, and participation in substantive and collaborative research with development and publication of scholarly work.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Applicants must have graduated from a CODA accredited Dental Hygiene Program. A Master's Degree or higher in relevant field is required. At least two years of full-time academic experience required and at least two years of clinical experience as a registered dental hygienist.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Dental Hygiene educational experience, with preference to teaching experiences with undergraduate and/or graduate dental hygiene and predoctoral dental students. Evidence supporting dedication to excellence in teaching, mentoring, patient care, continuing education, community service, leadership, research, and scholarship is expected. The successful candidate should enjoy interacting with students, have excellent interpersonal, problem solving, decision-making, verbal, and written communication skills, and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusivity. Demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching, patient care, and community service is expected.
