  • Man is massively contributing to the acceleration of climate change taking place on our planet. Several solutions have been proposed. Among them the well-known national and international policies aiming to strongly reduce the CO2 emissions into the atmosphere and the polluting agents. Additional solutions are based on the improvement of general environmental conditions, also through the establishment of increasingly numerous forests and parks able to efficiently absorb and store the CO2. Climate change is one of the main causes of the increase of the frequency and intensity of exceptional meteoric events, which significantly affect life on Earth. With this in mind, the attention is being increased towards natural environments, in particular forests as large accumulators of CO2. Some priority lines of action address both the expansion of woodland areas by means of new massive tree planting, and the increase of the resistance and resilience of existing forest ecosystems.
