Essential Job Functions
Develops and delivers a compelling vision for the university libraries,
academic support and the culinary museum, collaborating with faculty,
staff and administrators to identify priorities, considering existing
strengths and the changing nature of patron needs
Oversees the design, delivery and continuous improvement of library,
museum and academic support programs for on-campus, online and virtual
learning options
Builds and fosters a culture that embraces the Library as a central hub
for academic learning, community building and student success
Provides leadership for the assessment of the effectiveness of libraries,
culinary museum and academic support, including collecting data,
monitoring and evaluating progress and recommending and implementing
institutional practices to improve effectiveness on an on-going basis
Develops and guides initiatives to support the teaching,
scholarship/research and service roles of faculty
Provides leadership and participates in several universitywide initiatives
including open educational resources (OER) and first year seminar
Collaborates with other university academic and functional areas to
coordinate and integrate library and academic support services, as needed
Analyzes facility needs and plans for facility modifications in an effort
to maintain functional and adequate space for the university community
related to library and academic support services
Coordinates outreach and programming efforts to help students develop
research, critical analysis and information literacy skills
Interacts with students in ways that promote and enhance a growth mindset
regarding student learning and models such behavior consistently for
faculty and staff
Prepares and monitors departmental budget
Supervises and develops the department staff, facilitating professional
opportunities to improve individual capability and managing performance
against job accountabilities, department goals and established university,
campus and department policies and procedures
Supervises and manages student employees, as necessary, to enhance their
academic and professional development
Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Earned doctoral degree with at least one postsecondary degree earned in
library science or a related field of study
Significant amount of experience with managing academic libraries and/or
learning support services or related experience
Please note: Qualified candidates must live or relocate within a daily
commuting distance of the Providence Campus location upon hire.
