DIVISION: Applied Technology

APPOINTED BY: Northwest Iowa Community College President upon recommendation of the CAO.

SUPERVISOR: Chief Academic Officer (CAO).

BASIC FUNCTION: Plan, develop, coordinate, administer, and evaluate the educational programs for the effective operation of the division. Exercises direct supervision over all full-and part-time faculty as well as paraprofessionals assigned to the division.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required – Bachelor's degree in education or in a Career and Technical field and a minimum of five years of relevant teaching experience with the likelihood of completing a Master's degree by December 31st, 2024; or Master's degree in education or in a Career and Technical field and a minimum of three years of relevant teaching experience

Preferred – Master's Degree in a related field. Three years of teaching or administrative experience in a Career or Technical field in higher education. Three years of non-educational work experience. Administrative/supervisory experience.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Employee Supervision/Communication 1. Supervise all full-time, part-time, substitute, and adjunct faculty within the division, as well as the division secretaries, and parts-room clerks, holding them accountable for their respective positions. 2. Recommend to the CAO all educational personnel changes within the division and assist in the recruiting, interviewing, and training of new educational staff. 3. Work with all employees within the division monitoring Quality Faculty Plan progress, identifying professional development opportunities, and conducting formal evaluations on an annual basis. 4. Administer and operate within the parameters of current collective bargaining agreements. 5. Hold departmental and division meetings on a regular basis to keep faculty informed and to conduct division business.

Curriculum Planning and Program Development 1. Assist the CAO in the development and coordination of educational programs. 2. Develop teaching assignments and schedule courses within the division in response to program requirements, student needs, faculty expertise, and room/equipment availability and submit to the CAO. 3. Implement and monitor the outcomes assessment program of the college through development of learning outcomes, appropriate strategies, and feedback to evaluate student learning and ensure academic excellence and integrity of programs. 4. Assist faculty in planning, developing, and updating courses and programs to meet the needs of business, industry, and students. 5. Assist faculty to assure the effective operation of program advisory committees. 6. Administer the application of the NCC Program Evaluation Model to all division programs. 7. Evaluate current and proposed programs for development, retention, expansion, or discontinuation. 8. Responsible for the continued development and expansion of articulation agreements between NCC and post-secondary institutions for programs within the division. 9. Responsible for program accreditation and/or affiliations.

Budgeting and Expenditures 1. Develop, recommend, and administer a budget that will support the educational programs within the division. 2. Prepare individual contracts on a course-by-course basis within the division for all adjunct faculty, full-time overloads, and substitutes. 3. Assure the proper maintenance, operation, and repair of equipment in areas of the division. 4. Coordinate and evaluate all general fund and revolving fund expenditures including project billings and associated shop tickets. 5. Coordinate, negotiate, and supervise all contracts with outside agencies/customers for division program projects.

Related Areas 1. Facilitate promotional and recruitment activities at the division level (i.e. career and technology fairs, program recruitment letter series, etc.), and cooperate with college wide enrollment management initiatives. 2. Coordinate within the division the collection of necessary materials for college catalog revisions and other publications. 3. Assure orientation activities for the division occur. 4. Assist in the supervision of CDL activities within the division. 5. Assist the Business and Industry and Continuing Education with the development, organization, and delivery of business and industry training inside and outside of Area IV. 6. Assist in coordinating of student tour guides. 7. Supervise the proper operation and activities of the divisional Parts Service Store. 8. Assist in the management and reporting necessary to meet EPA and OSHA requirements.

Other Duties 1. Participate in the long and short range planning of the college. 2. Serve on and provide leadership to committees as appropriate and / or appointed. 3. Actively participate in state and national organizations as appropriate to division programs and/or college initiatives. 4. Maintain division standards consistent with Board Policy, Department of Education, HLC, and other accreditation bodies. 5. Participate in appropriate staff development activities. 6. Perform other duties as assigned.

WAGE/SALARY RANGE: $74,000 – $77,000
