Position Overview:

We are seeking a versatile Data Analyst proficient in SAS and R to support our research team, primarily focused on the complexities of American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) data. This role involves collaboration with the Department of Health, delving into extensive datasets, discerning patterns, and producing actionable insights pivotal to our research objectives. Beyond this primary focus, the candidate will also be involved in other projects, directly or indirectly related to AI/AN. Alongside data analysis, the analyst will partake in manuscript and grant writing, bridging strong collaborations with a multidisciplinary team, external stakeholders, and the Department of Health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • AI/AN Data Analysis & Interpretation:

  • Delve into comprehensive AI/AN datasets from the Department of Health to identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns using SAS and R.
  • Manage AI/AN datasets to ensure precise representation in our research outputs.
  • Collaboration with the Department of Health:

  • Work closely with representatives and data sources from the Department of Health to obtain, validate, and interpret data.
  • Act as a bridge between the research team and the Department of Health, ensuring clarity of communication and alignment of objectives.
  • Strategy Development:
  • Jointly work with the project team to draft and refine strategies for AI/AN data analysis.
  • Facilitate the implementation of these strategies to meet the set research objectives.
  • Communication, Manuscript & Grant Writing:
  • Prepare, review, and refine manuscripts related to AI/AN data findings for publication.
  • Engage robustly in the grant writing process, including formulating proposals centered on AI/AN research, drafting IRB protocols, budgets, and compiling justifications.
  • Clearly present complex AI/AN data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Continuous Learning & Professional Development:
  • Stay updated on the latest methodologies in SAS, R, and AI/AN data analytics.
  • Incorporate new strategies & tools to enhance the richness of insights from AI/AN datasets.
  • Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related domain. A Master's degree will be a distinct advantage.
  • Demonstrable experience in data analysis and interpretation, primarily using SAS and R.
  • Prior engagement with the Department of Health or similar entities is a plus.
  • Background or keen interest in AI/AN data.
  • Aptitude for manuscript and grant writing.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.
  • Duration:

    The role is for a predetermined tenure (1 year), with a possibility of extension based on project dynamics and individual contributions.

    Minimum Education and/or Work Experience

    Experience: Master's degree or doctorate in related field; 1-3 years' experience in advanced quantitative data analysis required or a combination of Education and work experience.
