Job Summary Supervises, coordinates, and participates in the care, cleaning, and general housekeeping of all Housing and Residence Life buildings and is principally responsible for the oversight of 4 to 8 buildings and the daily management of 4 to 8 employees.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducts inspection of assigned areas to ensure completion of work assignments.
  • Discusses general custodial procedures with personnel of the assigned areas, implements changes in procedures of chemicals, supplies, and techniques
  • Maintains knowledge of materials and supplies used in cleaning buildings.
  • Makes work assignments in accordance with predetermined schedules, reviews the work of employees.
  • Trains, organizes, schedules and assigns work routines to a large group of employees.
  • Works from oral and written instructions to make immediate changes in the work program to meet modification of services desired.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in a timely, fair and objective manner and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications

    One year certificate from college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; Driver's License Required.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of chemicals and cleaning techniques, management principles, department policy and procedures.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, operate commercial grade floor machinery, capable of driving all vehicles and equipment in the housekeeping department.

  • Ability to demonstrate discretion when dealing with sensitive or confidential matters.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Ability to manage own time.
  • Preferred Qualifications Prefer 2 years of work experience in similar or related field of work, familiarity with computer based time clock and familiarity with maintenance work order systems.
