  • Knowledge of horticulture and synthetic turfgrass management practices

  • Demonstrate effective communication skills

  • A license or vocational training in a related discipline with additional consideration to an applicant who possesses a bachelor's degree
  • Three years of previous experience in collegiate or professional grounds management environment

  • Job Description

    Crew Supv, Turf and Grounds assumes the responsibility for managing the care and maintenance of all intercollegiate athletic fields and grounds. Establishes and implements grounds/landscape maintenance goals, policies and procedures. Ensures adherence to all relevant regulations, guidelines, and standards for NCAA Division 1 athletic fields.

    Job Duties

  • Manages and maintains athletic fields (natural grass and synthetic surfaces, facility grounds, landscaping/ornamentals and xeriscaping
  • Interviews, hires, trains and oversees personnel, which includes assigning work, work allocation, problem resolution, evaluating performance, motivating employees to achieve peak productivity and performance
  • Purchases, maintains, and manages inventory of athletic field maintenance equipment and supplies
  • Manages and reviews irrigation systems performance and initiates changes when necessary.
  • Manages inventory and oversees the preventive equipment maintenance, repairs, and replacement programs
  • Communicate regularly with department coaches and administration to discuss activities, goals, plans and user input
  • Baseball & Softball Specific: Manages infield clay surfaces, mound and home plate areas, turf-to-clay transitions
  • Assist in the coordination of construction, renovation and/or reconstruction of sports facilities
  • Keeps accurate and complete records of inventory, weather data, maintenance procedures, chemical applications, etc.
  • Coordinates and implements inclement weather planning and best practices for natural and synthetic fields
  • Utilizes best practices for pest/disease/weed management
  • Develop and implement plans to reduce impacts on the environment including recycling, stormwater management, waste management and erosion control, and improve the overall sustainability of the facilities
  • Participation in continuing education opportunities such as seminars & workshops
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
