Position Summary

Position Title Costume Shop Assistant Manager (STUDENT ONLY)

Department Theatre Work Schedule Position Summary

The Costume Shop Assistant Manager aids the Costume Shop Manager in running the Westminster Costume Shop to ensure that projects are on schedule for music, theatre, and dance productions. This can include maintaining necessary paperwork, drafting, draping, and cutting patterns, supervising laundering and costume storage, taking measurements and conducting fittings, and supervising less experienced student employees.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have previously worked as a Costume Shop Foreman
  • Proficient use of sewing machines and hand sewing techniques
  • Willingness to take instruction and learn new skills
  • Willingness to support other Costume Shop Employees
  • Works well in a collaborative environment
  • Preferred Qualifications

    Experience with drafting, draping, and cutting patterns. Experience with creating and maintaining costuming paperwork

    Primary Responsibilities

    Responsibility Costume Shop Management


    Support the Costume Shop Manager in running the shop by creating and maintaining production paperwork, leading shop organization and cleanliness, mentor and instruct technicians on costume construction and laundering, and attend production meetings and rehearsals as needed.

    Responsibility Drafting, Cutting, and Draping


    At the direction of the Costume Shop Manager, drafting, cutting, and draping patterns based on designs and renderings.

    Responsibility Measurements and Fittings


    Support the Costume Shop Manager and designers as directed when taking measurements and conducting fittings.

    Organizational Responsibilities
