Implement Nebraska Forest Service (NFS) wildland fire training that adheres to the National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) standards; provide departments with timely qualification updates, information, and training materials as well as prevention materials, track and monitor the VFA grant program, and work with departments to enable them to apply for the grant as well as maintain the Nebraska fire reporting database.

Minimum Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent plus one year of wildland fire, fire suppression, fire sciences, natural resources, forestry, or related experience. Experience must demonstrate excellent word processing, spreadsheet, communication, and interpersonal skills. Firefighter Type 2 NWCG certification. Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's degree in forestry, fire science, fire ecology, natural resources, or related field plus two years of wildland fire, fire suppression, fire sciences, natural resources, forestry, or related experience. Proven record in developing and successfully implementing training courses. Knowledge of wildland firefighting and fire suppression. Understanding of the NWCG standards and qualifications required for training entry level and intermediate firefighters. Database skills. Experience with IQS or IQCS. CDL and Firefigher Type 1 NWCG certification or higher.
