Job Title Coordinator - Teaching and Learning, STEM Center

Full Time/Part Time Full Time FLSA Exempt General Job Description

This is a professional position responsible for supporting programs of, and coordinating the development and delivery of, all curriculum generated through the STEM Research and Learning Center. Responsible for connecting content and pedagogy across Center programs and assisting in producing deliverables implemented within teaching, learning, and outreach efforts. Supports a wide variety of advanced program activities, including: recruitment, retention, and enrollment activities; reporting, researching, interpreting and reviewing potential grant opportunities; developing and delivering teacher professional development; and supporting undergraduate research initiatives. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Associate Director, STEM Center.

Essential Job Functions

  • Coordinates the development and review of curriculum implementation through the STEM Center.
  • Researches best practices in curriculum development and delivery to support outreach efforts.
  • Supports faculty engaged in the development and delivery of Center curriculum.
  • Assists faculty in determining effective pedagogy strategies to engage a targeted audience.
  • Connects content and pedagogy between higher education and K-12 content and personnel.
  • Collects and uses data to assist with the development of models that depict trends in the student base and community population.
  • Supports the teaching/learning and outreach mission of the STEM Center.
  • Teaches courses in the SFA JacksTeach program, as needed.
  • Assists in planning, evaluating, and implementing program objectives, goals, and timelines.
  • Assists in developing and supporting grant-funded projects related to STEM education.
  • Compiles, prepares, and analyzes data and reports in relation to the program/project needs.
  • Monitors equipment and inventory and makes suggestions on purchasing supplies and materials.
  • Supports coordination, planning, and oversight of Center supported initiatives.
  • Recommends and assists in implementing procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Researches best practices in higher education pertinent to STEM education.
  • Non-Essential Job Functions

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • May serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
  • Identifies, defines, and develops funding sources to support existing and planned programs and activities.
  • May write and submit grant proposals to foundations and third party entities.

  • Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with university faculty and staff, students, and the general public.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to provide support for student development with a demonstrable concern for students.
  • Ability to work effectively and patiently with students.
  • Physical Demands Required Education

    Bachelor's degree in a STEM or a STEM-related field is required.

    Required Experience and Training

    Two years of related experience is required.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Master's degree in a STEM or a STEM-related field is preferred. Experience working with STEM and K-12 faculty and administration is preferred. Experience in outreach programming, data collection and analysis, research, grant writing, and K-12 teaching is preferred.

    Special Conditions for Eligibility

    Min Pay Rate Mid Pay Rate Salary Information Commensurate with Experience, Salary Grade - 8 Specific Job Requirements/Duties for this Posting

    Five or more years of teaching experience in a STEM field is preferred.

    This position is eligible for participation in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) retirement plan, subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
