Curtin University Library provides an array of innovative services and programs to support the University's research and the development of higher degree by research students (HDRs) as independent learners and researchers.

Your new role

We have an exciting opportunity for a research support specialist to take the lead role in the development and maintenance of Library research services related to our institutional repository and open research practices. The role provides expert advice and leadership for initiatives aligned to the University's strategic plan, develops relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and ensures researchers and HDR students are provided with training and education support related to current and emerging Library research services.

In this role, you will:

  • Work with the team, university stakeholders and the vendor to implement and deliver a new repository platform and researcher profile system.
  • Develop expert knowledge in institutional, subject and data repositories.
  • Develop and deliver training for Library staff, researchers, and HDR students, integrating advocacy and expert knowledge in open research and FAIR principles.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align library services with university strategies.
  • Coordinate the design, resourcing, benchmarking, evaluation, and reporting of Library research services and related initiatives.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and management of staff.
  • We are looking for (the ideal candidate):

  • Completion of a relevant degree with considerable experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education training.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of institutional, subject and data repositories.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to adapt communication styles to differing audiences and the ability to form meaningful networks across the library, university and nationally.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team, manage projects, solve problem and work within timeframes.
  • Demonstrated excellent presentation skills, including experience as trainer.
  • Professional qualification in librarianship (desirable).
  • As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered. Only in limited situations will visa sponsorship situations be considered.
