Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
The Coordinator of Aviation Safety will oversee the Aviation Safety Management System (SMS) across all of the Department of Aviation, Science, and Technology's programs.
Responsibilities
Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, and respectful collaboration and active support of the University's Mission and Catholic and Lasallian higher education.
-Oversee all aspects of the Lewis University Aviation Department Safety Management System.
-Will hold regular safety meetings with required personnel and will continue to foster and instill a strong safety culture across all programs. -Will analyze aviation safety reports and address safety trends with department stakeholders.
-Required to gain Lewis University certification and online training utilizing the Blackboard technology delivery system.
-Actively participate in department meetings and other duties as assigned by the Department leadership.
-Develop, implement, oversee safety management systems and model the safe operation of highly technical equipment across all programs.
-Collaborate with the Campus Emergency Planning Team on safety initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in aviation or related field.
-Certification in safety-related field with a strong background in safety management systems in an aviation environment.
Preferred Qualifications
-Master's degree in aviation or related field. Industry experience operating commercial or corporate aircraft.
-Have or will obtain ISBAO certification for Safety Audit and analysis.
