Monday-Friday; 8:00am-5:00pm. Flexible work schedule to accommodate after school tutorials, Saturday activities, and summer residential program. Some local and national travel.

Job Summary

Provide overall development, coordination and implementation of the TRIO Pre- College Veterans Upward Bound.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize and supervise VUB components to meet/exceed goals and objectives of the grant.
  • Compile and submit program assessments for end-of year evaluation and submission for Department of Education and grant proposals.
  • Coordinate participant recruitment, selection, retention and maintenance.
  • Evaluate and schedule participants in tutoring, etc., based on assessments, academic performance and career objectives.
  • Coordinate interviewing, hiring, training and monitoring of staff, including tutors and instructors.
  • Maintain effective communication with UTA departments, VA offices/resources, community agencies, families and participants.
  • Monitor monthly Individual Education Plans (IEP) and prescription sheets for participants.
  • Coordinate VUB activities and monthly calendar.
  • Performs other duties assigned.
  • Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a related area.
  • Experience in the areas of staff supervision, budget management, program development and evaluation, reporting and compliance with federal regulations.
  • Knowledge of student recruitment, guidance and advising practices as well as university admissions and financial aid programs.
  • Ability to coordinate and supervise others; excellent verbal and written communication ability; solid computer skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population and work environment.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Military Veteran status preferred.
  • Master's degree in Education or other related field and four (4) years of related experience.
  • Experience working with a Federal TRIO Pre-College Program in the area of post-secondary opportunity.
  • Formal training and/or work experience in fields related to improving academic scores on standardized test, education program retention and completion, post-secondary enrollment, post-secondary completion, for low- income and potential first generation college students and veterans.
  • Personal knowledge of Veterans Affairs and State of Texas education programs.
