Job Summary

This position encompasses two main functions – assisting the departmental events manager and providing professional administrative assistance and coordination to all aspects of the Music Department, with a focus on ensembles and summer camps. This position will require frequent evening and weekend work hours.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Events Manager in the smooth operation of Irons Recital Hall and other event spaces associated with the department, including but not limited to:

  • Managing student events staff.
  • Planning and coordination of equipment and stage needs.
  • Conducting annual physical inventories.
  • Lighting repairs.
  • Serve as the “on call” manager on a rotating basis with the Events Manager.

  • Manage Box Office and Front of House at all large ensemble concerts.
  • Serve as primary manager for all audio/video equipment in Irons Recital Hall and with the mobile units.
  • Performs administrative functions in the Music Department, which may include:
  • Event planning, project management, and/or other similar functions.
  • Assist with area purchases using the UTShare system; oversight of ProCard; maintain office files, supplies, and various student databases.
  • Facilitate auditions and scholarship offers for prospective students: paperwork processing, student correspondence, database management.
  • Manage all aspects of live streaming:
  • management of streaming services, scheduling, title cards, uploads to the website, communication with performers, social media marketing for events.
  • Act as primary webmaster for uta.edu/music.
  • Manage social media content creation and postings.
  • Manage rental instrument inventory and rental processes.
  • Take payments from students and conduct physical inventory of instruments.
  • Summer Camps—work with camp coordinators, maintain camper databases, facilitate form collection, process payments and refunds, serve as liaison to the public and other departments on campus.
  • Other duties as assigned by camp directors.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under the pressure of time limitations in a professional demeanor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two (2) years of program coordination or project management experience or the equivalent.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a music or performing arts field, or a closely related field.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in one or more of the following: event production (specifically classical concert/performance environment), recording live music, lighting, live video streaming, and/or sound reinforcement.
  • Working Conditions Special Conditions for Eligibility

    Class “C” Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.
