  • Position Summary:

    Facilities Services Division of Design and Construction is currently looking for motivated individuals for our Contact Manager position to provide professional management of engineering and construction, assure quality design and construction of facilities and Interpret the requirements of design and construction drawings, specifications, and contracts. This recruitment is open internal to current UA employees as a promotional opportunity or those otherwise eligible to apply to internal postings.

    Duties:

    10Coordinate project schedules and activities with project managers, users, maintenance personnel, and to ensure uninterrupted progress of work, and facilitate occupancy by the University.Essential

    10Evaluate and process contract documents including bonds, insurance, change orders, contract modifications, submittals/shop drawings, pay estimates, and certificates of completion.Essential

    10Make immediate, concise decisions and commitments during construction to avoid delays and resultant claims. Resolve disputes such as acceptability of the quality of work.Essential

    35Provide continuous monitoring or inspection of the contractor's quality of workmanship and materials for compliance with the contract documents. Maintain daily construction reports, cost control reports, final cost reports, and photo journals for possible legal record. Initiate corrective action for design and construction deficiencies.Essential

    35Provide professional management of engineering and construction. Assure quality design and construction of facilities. Interpret the requirements of design and construction drawings, specifications, and contracts. Review engineering and constructability during the design phase of project development to minimize construction cost. Prepare Requests for Proposals to contractors, review proposals, negotiate a fair and reasonable price.Essential

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of policies, principles, practices, laws, legal liabilities, responsibilities, and regulations relating to construction project management for projects valued from several thousand to multi-million dollars.
  • Knowledge and training in current building practices, means and methods, scheduling, and quality assurance. Knowledge of building codes and standards is also required.
  • TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Amount of experience required is related to level of applicable education: A Bachelor of Science in any of the engineering disciplines or architecture, any combination of applicable advanced education and experience, or sufficient demonstrated construction management experience.
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING

    Typically a Bachelor of Science in any of the engineering disciplines or architecture is required however, any combination of applicable advanced education and experience, or demonstrated related construction and/or Facilities management experience may be acceptable.

    SALARY

    Grade 80 / DOE (minimum Step 1 $28.22/hr)

    Salary is negotiable upon conditional job offer depending on experience and education.
