Assistant Professor Faculty Position

Department of Kinesiology & Applied Physiology

The Department of Kinesiology and Applied Physiology (KAAP) at the University of Delaware invites nominations and applications for a continuing- track (CT) faculty position (assistant professor, 12--month appointment) in UD's CAATE-accredited Graduate Athletic Training Education Program. We seek an innovative, dynamic faculty member to teach graduate-level athletic training courses in support of the MS-AT program and undergraduate courses in support of the Sports Health major. Other responsibilities include student advising/mentoring and service to the program, department, college and university. Earned doctorate (ABD will be considered) in Athletic Training or related field is required. BOC certification and eligibility for Delaware licensure as an Athletic Trainer is required. Relevant Athletic Training clinical experience is recommended. Relevant teaching experience (American Heart Association BLS Instructor Certification or equivalent is suggested), technological literacy, and a commitment to integrate technology into classroom instruction is preferred. Familiarity with CAATE-accreditation standards and procedures is recommended. All faculty are expected to contribute to a welcoming campus environment that embraces diversity.

GENERAL INFORMATION: The Department of Kinesiology and Applied Physiology (https:// www. udel.edu/kaap) is comprised of 29 faculty, approximately 750 undergraduate students pursuing a B.S. in Exercise ScienceSC1 or Sports Health, and 100+ graduate students pursuing an M.S. in Exercise Science, an M.S. in Athletic Training, an M.S in Clinical Exercise Physiology, a Ph.D. in Biomechanics and Movement Sciences or a Ph.D. in Applied Physiology. The Department values excellent teaching and student engagement. The University provides an environment that supports and fosters teaching innovation, instructional technology, and course development.

UD Health Sciences (CHS) is a thriving and innovative interdisciplinary college of over 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students and 150 faculty with outstanding research and teaching facilities. CHS has teaching and research facilities throughout the campus, including the state-of-the-art UD Health Sciences Complex on the University's Science Technology & Advanced Research (STAR) Campus. The first UD Health building at STAR opened in January 2014 with 100,000 sq. ft. of space and the Tower at STAR opened in Fall 2018, providing an additional 70,000 sq. ft. of research, simulation, meeting, collaboration and educational space. The Tower's innovative spaces promote inter-professional education and training as well as research leading to the development of new devices, techniques and interventions. The STAR Campus fosters connections to the community, linking the community to the inter- professional training of our students and collaborative research between faculty and clinicians. The College also includes the departments of Behavioral Health and Nutrition, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Medical and Molecular Sciences, Physical Therapy, and the School of Nursing. With annual research expenditures of approximately $26 million, the college currently houses a number of large, interdisciplinary grants with significant funding from the NIH and DoD. The college boasts strong research teams in the areas of neurological disorders, cardiovascular health, and other chronic disease conditions, as well as rehabilitation science and concussion.

SALARY AND BENEFITS : Compensation packages are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
