We are looking for a motivated, skilled and caring professional to join the dedicated paediatric radiology team at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.
ABOUT THE TEAM
Southampton Children's Hospital is part of University Hospital Southampton and is a major centre for specialist paediatric services in the South of England. We provide acute specialist care to our local population in Southampton and the wider region, including the Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands. We are a major paediatric trauma centre and part of the Oxford and Southampton Children's Hospital Network (cardiac, critical care, neuroscience, orthopaedics, rehabilitation and transitional care). Supporting the development of medical careers is one of our trust's key aims, and the hospital is a major teaching centre and is the base for the Wessex Radiology Training Scheme.

In recognition of the national shortage of paediatric radiologists, this post is currently eligible for a recruitment and retention incentive of £10,000 (pro rata) payable on joining the Trust (terms and conditions apply); this will be renegotiated annually until we are fully staffed.

Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesYOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Paediatric radiology is an essential component of the Southampton Children's Hospital, and we have exciting plans to grow the service to continue to provide an excellent tertiary service and advise our local DGHs. The successful candidates will have subspecialist training in paediatric radiology and be able to participate fully with the varied work of the department including the dedicated on-call rota. The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop a subspecialty interest in collaboration with their colleagues. Paediatric neuroradiology is not essential, but we will endeavour to accommodate a strong interest in this subspecialty.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Applicants should have a CCT or be on the GMC's Specialist Register or be within six months of obtaining their CCT on the date of the AAC. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate their competence to communicate in spoken and written English.
Where equivalent qualifications or experience are being offered, it is essential that candidates should provide confirmation of this from the relevant College or Faculty in the United Kingdom and attach the confirmation to your application.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Individuals wishing to apply must be fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and should be either already on or within 6 months of eligibility to be included on the specialist register of the GMC.
The successful candidate will be employed under the terms and conditions of service for Consultants (England) 2003.
